Women's MX Nationals - Coolum QLD
20 August 2011
Well the weekend racing at Coolum Queensland has come and gone....and it was an outstanding event held by the Rebel media group - Fi Collins.
Apart from the rain the spirit of the girls was far from being dampened and we were able to see some spectacular riding by the girls in all divisions.
Congratulations goes out to Tayla Jones who is a member of the Girl Rider Race team, Tayla took out a 1st & 2nd in her divisions, as well as Courtney Whyte-Dennis who was placed 10th overall in her division.Special mention to Kate Norman who shown enormous courage to get through all the mud and rain. (see gallery for images of the event).
Well done to all the girls who competed.

Tribute to the Original Girl Rider in mylife
16 July 2011
As a young girl many people make an impact on your life. Not only do they encourage you to become an independent woman, in some cases they become someone you look up too for your life. More importantly this person in my life was my Gran - Nana to me and Doris to her family and friends. She was a woman who was greatly independent and very opinionated but still compassionate.
As a young girl of 3 yrs Nan became a widow, she never remarried and worked vey hard right up to her 70's and of course showered us all with her love right up too her passing.
We lost Nana her eight weeks short of her 100th birthday, a wonderful mile stone in anyone's life let alone hers. She was so excited to be achieving such a celebration and that the joy of hopefully receiving a letter from the Queen was always in the back of her mind being British.
Back in 1957 my grandparents and mother made the decision to immigrate to Australia such a huge decision seeing that London was still trying to rebuild since the end of WWII. Back then there was a lot of things not available like what there is to us today. So much so that public transport from their family home in Brooklyn some 10kms from the Melbourne CBD was not existent. In order to do her job Nana purchased a 1958 Vespa - only 125cc bike. It may have been short of horsepower but definatly not short on miles that it was ridden. She rode that bike everywhere not only around Melbourne but as far as Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong.
No ride was ever too short - will miss you always Nana xx

Melbourne's inaugural event to celebrate IFRD which was held on May 6th 2011 at the "Hub " in Melbourne Docklands was the meeting point for the ride.
After riding through Melbourne and upon the circuit where the Australian Formula One GP is held. We all headed over the Westgate bridge to Williamstown where we all caught up to chat over dinner. An enjoyable night was had by all and we welcome to wonderful girls from the USA. Catt and Vicki from Event Scene management and Diamond Posse.
